No more 360 BC updates?

Bu...Bu...But there's no Rallisport Challenge 2 in the list yet?

Well we may have already seen the last of Xbox 360 backwards compatibility updates. It seems the functionality is going the same way as the similar feature on PlayStation 3.

"I don't know if we have plans to do any more releases," Microsoft marketing manager Albert Penello told Kotaku. "It feels like we kind of hit the point of diminishing returns there. I know with the Xbox Originals, there are still things happening there, but in terms of a lot of engineering work around bringing out new titles, I think they're winding that down."

Of course we're still going to see the release of Xbox Originals on the Xbox Live Martetplace.

Has backwards compatibility had its day? Do you use it on PS3/X360? Do you think it will be a feature of Xbox 720 or PlayStation 4?

I think backwards compatability is very important to the industry. Now more than ever. While there is more money to be made by re-releaseing games (Wii virtual console) there is a large group of niche gamers that will still want to play the same games 10 years from now. I know I still break out Sonic the Hedgehog on my old Megadrive now and again, despite the fact I bought it from XBLA.

Ignoreing back-compat is a mistake.

I personally think BC is a waste of time and space. I rarely play a game more than once and thats with current games....let alone going back to previous consoles. Its a great idea in principal, but very few people actually use it.

I don't use it either. My little brother played halo2, but since halo3 is out... yes halo2 stays putt.

I use BC pretty much everyday, thats why I'm so thankful that Nintendo understand how important it is. *sigh* To think that when alot of people go out of their way to sell their old console to buy the new updated one, so they can play new games and old games, but end up just being screwed. Guess I'll never see a Pal update for Guilty Gear XX Reload ><

I think nobody would deny the fact that as a Wii owners need backward compatability more to play good games...
