Why such expensive DJ Hero DLC?

Activision has explained why DJ Hero DLC tracks cost more than songs for Guitar Hero.

DJ Hero has already bombed in the UK charts and now Activision is having to explain why downloads for the game are so expensive compared to tracks for the publisher's Guitar Hero franchise.

While Guitar Hero 5 tracks will cost you 160 Microsoft Points or the PSN equivalent, you're looking at 480 Microsoft Points for the Extended Mix Pack 01 which features just two tracks. That's 220 Microsoft Points each.

The reason, says developer FreeStyleGames is down to the cost of producing the content.

DJ Hero downloadable content costs more than Guitar Hero downloadable content because it costs more to produce, according to developer FreeStyleGames.

"There's additional work in the creation process of the DJ Hero DLC," FSG's Chris Lee told IGN. "Licensing multiple pieces of content and bringing in a professional DJ to mix the tracks - that brings the price."

The next DLC package for the game will be released on November 24th for 640 Microsoft Points and features three tracks.
