Halo 3 to take on PS3?

A new rumour has surfaced, placing the Halo 3 launch date right next to that of the PS3.

Microsoft has apparently learned a lesson from the last days of the N64, when Nintendo launched its much-hyped shooter Perfect Dark to compete directly against the release of Sony's Playstation 2. According to the latest rumour that has emerged in the industry, MS will launch the new Halo 3 in the same timeframe as the PS3 is scheduled to arrive on the market.

Nothing is at this point official by any means, but the move seems like a logical step to undermine a powerful launch of the PS3. The current Halo 2 was preordered in more than two million copies, just to compare the strengths. As it is now, however, the news is simply a rumour (And one I don't believe - Ed.) as Halo 3 has yet to be announced by Microsoft and Bungie.

um......I think their refering to a release of H3 on the Xbox NXT and not the PS3. Cant really see the BIG MS releasing their biggest gaming property on their competitors console? read the story again, its about competition and drawing media attention away from the PS3 launch,

i don't understand them halo 2 on xbox and now halo 3 on ps3 thats so stupid because the people with a xbox don't have a ps and the people that have a ps don't have a xbox so they don't know the story

I think you have misunderstand the whole thing, please read it again.

It says Halo 3 will release the same day as PS3 release, PS3 release date end of the year rumer says if this true Halo 3 will definately will be the largest selling game ever in the history of video gaming & 110% will go to guiness world record 2005 book if true. Another rumer says xbox 2 will announce this month www.thenextbox.com just cant wait to get it.

dude Xbox is allrigth but when it was released it had some problems and ps2 is better anyway and plus if xbox was to let there only good game to sony then xbox would be nothing and if they do release halo 3 the same time of ps3 that wont hurt ps3 to much becuz people like sony better I do to ............ps3 is going to kick xbox 2 or whatever the gay name is and gamecube ass and halo is pretty gay anyway I dont know why they would people are so obsesed with it and until microsoft can get the license to GTA aND final fantasy they will get kill by sony

um....the PS2 isn't really better than the Xbox atall, from a technical standpoint, theres no contest, Games wise both consoles have their pros and cons, the PS2 came to market a year before the Xbox, so was able to obtain quite a large market share prior to the Big MS coming in. Basically Sony were able to exploit that they were on their second generation console, so already had a pretty large user base to build upon, whereas the Xbox is MS' first console, the 'console wars' in the nxt gen will be alot closer than this gen as the releases are likely to be closer together. Names wise, Playstation isn't exactly cool, sounds like something fisher price would release, at the end of the day though, its all about the games.
